With spring around the corner and warmer weather upon us, I want to take this opportunity to remind our school families about student drop off and dismissal procedures.
Morning drop off for TK-fourth grades begins at 7:30 a.m. Supervision is provided on the main playground only. This area includes the blacktop and play structure. The kindergarten playground does not open until 8 a.m., therefore if you drop your kindergarten student between 7:30-8 a.m., they need to go straight to the main playground.
Due to our large student enrollment, Bacich uses a staggered dismissal process for our TK-fourth graders. Our TK and kindergarten children are dismissed first (1:10 p.m.), followed by grade 1 and grade 2 (2:20 p.m.), and lastly, our upper grades are dismissed at 2:53 p.m. Wednesday dismissals take place at 12 p.m., 12:15 p.m. and 12:30 p.m. respectively.
We find that many of our parents and caregivers wait on campus, if they are picking up children at different dismissal times. It is important to remember that many classes are still in session until the end of the school day at 2:53 p.m. Therefore, we ask that families wait in the lunch quad area, or if they have younger children, they may wait in the kindergarten play yard. The blacktop and the big play structure are off-limits until all classes are dismissed because of the distractions and the noise for students still in session and learning. This includes our PE classes.
After students are dismissed, they must go home, attend one of the afterschool programs, or be supervised by a responsible adult. Students may not be left on campus unsupervised after their dismissal time.
