May 22, 2020

Dear Bacich Parents,

We realize that it is time to begin cleaning out our classrooms and making sure that our students have their artwork, class materials and belongings that were left behind when we closed school for distance learning on March 13th.

Teachers have spent this past week packing up individual student bags. They have clearly labeled each bag with the teacher’s name and the student’s name. These will be lined up along the sidewalk of the main parking lot (in front of the school) from 10 a.m.- 5 p.m. on the following days and organized by teacher’s name this coming week. Teachers used protective gloves to pack their students’ belongings. We ask that you are mindful of social distancing when picking up your child’s bag.

  • Kindergarten: Tuesday May 26
  • Grade 1: Wednesday, May 27
  • Grade 2: Thursday, May 28
  • Grade 3 and 4: Friday, May 29

We hope you will come by to pick up your child’s school materials. Materials not collected can not be held until fall.

Thank you,

Sally Peck

Congratulations to Bacich's 2019-2020 Golden Bell Recipients!

Yesterday, Second Grade teacher Marty Ross, and paraprofessional Gretchen Harris were honored at Marin County Office of Education’s 2020 virtual Golden Bell Awards Ceremony.

The Golden Bell Awards recognize and celebrate public educators in Marin County who exemplify outstanding service and exceptional teaching practices. Marty and Gretchen were nominated by their colleagues to represent our school at this special event.

Here’s a little bit of information about our two Golden Belles:

Marty Ross has been an elementary school teacher for twenty-one years. Initially, starting her teaching career in independent schools in Washington D.C., Marty and her family returned to the San Francisco area, where she taught Kindergarten in the Ross School District. Twelve years ago, Marty was hired to teach kindergarten at Bacich and later became a member of the Second Grade team. She shares that she loves observing the second graders, as they come to understand themselves as young learners, and Marty’s commitment to helping them discover their gifts and passions is a perfect fit for this particular age group. When Marty is not at school with her students and her four-legged side-kick, Honu, you can find her enjoying her two grandchildren!

Gretchen Harris started her twenty year career in the KSD as a parent volunteer when her oldest daughter was in kindergarten. Bacich soon recognized her many talents and Gretchen was hired to be a classroom paraprofessional. She has worked in various grade levels and has been an important member of our recess and lunch duty team. She inspires both adults and children alike with Recess Dance Parties, her leadership in the school’s Resolution Team, and her willingness to jump in to lend a hand in any way at our school. As an active and patriotic Girl Scout leader, Gretchen started each school day showing our young students how to raise the American flag on our playground. When she’s not at Bacich, you can find Gretchen cheering on her three daughters, reading, swimming, learning archery, or being active in her church.

Bacich thanks both Marty and Gretchen for the passion, skill, and commitment that they bring to our school. Congratulations!
