Each year, Marin County hosts a Golden Bell Celebration of Education. This event pays tribute to our outstanding local educators who work in the field of education across our county. We are thrilled that our Innovation and Integration teacher, Michael Bessonette, will be honored this week, as one of the 2018–2019 Golden Bell Award winners.
Michael started his teaching career in 2007 after previously working as a software designer. Michael joined the Bacich staff as a fourth grade teacher in 2014, where he touched the lives of many students before moving into his current role.
When asked what he cherishes most about being a teacher, Michael would tell you that he loves the energy, joy, and curiosity in working with young children. He enjoys watching them explore and get excited through meaningful and hands-on learning.
The new Maker Space, which will be Michael’s classroom, will offer many unique opportunities for students to engage in integrated learning experiences. The science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) curriculum in this space will offer a full spectrum of learning extensions beyond the homeroom classroom for our students.
Each year, it is difficult to identify just one staff member at Bacich who exemplifies excellence in teaching. Our teachers bring their unique interests and personalities to the classroom, and I believe that these varied styles and individual passions help create the exceptional school and learning environment that we share at Bacich.
Teachers nominate one another for the Golden Bell Award by describing the reasons that a particular colleague should be recognized as the Bacich Golden Bell recipient. Letters are read at a staff meeting, and one individual is chosen to represent the outstanding educational community at Bacich.
We hope you will join us in congratulating and celebrating Michael Bessonette, as our 2018-2019 Golden Bell Award winner.!
