Dear Bacich Parents,

This is a time when we traditionally celebrate several culminating activities related to the end of another school year: Gold Country, Bacich and Kent Step-Up Day, Field Days, the Parent Tea, and the Fourth Grade pool party and Promotion, to name a few. While the current COVID-19 situation has prevented most of these special events from taking place, we have been able to hold on to a few traditions and experience them virtually.

Last night, our District hosted the second annual KSD Reclassification Ceremony. This was an opportunity for the school community to come together to celebrate fifteen of our English Language Learners, who have proved that they are proficient in acquiring the English language. This is an amazing accomplishment.

Our English Language Learner (ELL) program includes over fifty students at both Bacich and Kent who speak a variety of home languages including Spanish, Polish, Hungarian, Thai, Russian, Japanese, Portuguese, Haitian Creole. This year’s Reclassification Ceremony theme was titled, “Being Bilingual is My Superpower!” It was truly a special event, and we are very proud of these students.

Fourth Grade Promotion is another event that we will hold virtually to honor our 117 Fourth Grade students, who will be leaving Bacich and moving on to Kent in the Fall. This celebration will take place at 10 a.m. on Friday, June 12th. Look for more information on our school website. We hope you’ll join us!

Thank you,

Sally Peck
